A rivet nut, also known as a blind rivet nut or rivnut is a one-piece internally threaded and counterbored tubular rivet that can be anchored entirely from one side. Blind Rivet Nuts provide load-bearing threads in thin sheet materials that are too thin for a tapped thread. They are called “blind” because they can be installed from one side of the work piece. Once the rivet nut is installed, additional components can be attached using threaded fasteners. Rivet nuts are an ideal replacement for weld nuts because they will not distort base materials, they eliminate weld splatter, toxic fumes and other by products of the welding process and they can be installed in many different kinds of material including; steel, plastic, composites and fiberglass. There are produced in steel, stainless steel and aluminum. There are many different styles of rivnuts to accommodate a large range of applications.
